  EVOLUTION OF A LEGEND

The Evo as its fans fondly calls it, has already left its mark on automotive history. The mere mention of the Evo strikes fear in many exotic owners while it's giant-killing reputation stretches from its domination of WRC Rally stages to the urban jungle.  

The Evolution VII is the latest from a long line of Evo models derived to meet the strict homologation requirements of the WRC and its the first Evo to be based on the new Lancer Cedia body.

Unlike some so-called homologation "specials", every part of the Evolution VII means serious speed. The open grilled nose section is designed to feed optimum amount of air into the intercooler while the vents on the bonnet is needed to cool the engine. The rear spoiler is adjustable to provide the optimum downforce for different conditions. 

At the heart of the car lies the engine, the 2 litre DOHC Inline-4 4G63 twin turbo engine is is derived from Evolution VI producing 280 horsepower but more importantly, 282 lb-ft of torque. The power is feed through Mitsubishi's acclaimed 4WD systems. The Evolution 7 is also equipped with Active Yaw Control (AYC) which effectively gives better torque distribution to the rear wheels. The big piece de resistance, however, is the new ACD (Active Center Differential) which uses an electronically controlled clutch that gives better grip compared to the standard VCU type to improve traction.

In effect, the Evolution VII is one of the fastest cars on the road. While some exotics costing many times more than the Evo may be faster on the track but nothing touches it on the public road. Unlike exotics, the Evolution VII comes with 4 doors and a booth which makes it perfectly convenient and fun.
