VEILSIDE RX-7 HKS SINGLE TURBO

The 3rd generation
RX-7 totally changed the way that people view Mazda. They of course had
successes with the previous generation RX-7's but the FD3S is in an entire
different class. Carrying the looks of a European super-car with a Japanese
flair the latest generation Seven is probably the best looking import off the
showroom in my opinion. But you know what they say, "Greatness is greedy." And
that's defiantly the phrase that describes our FD3S
RX-7. Alot of work has gone into this Seven, running the power output into the
550bhp+ range.

Easy power gains and the recently rebuilt 13b rotary engine seem to go hand in hand. The original twin turbo setup has been scrapped in favor of a single high flowing HKS TO4R mounted on a Blitz Nur Spec-R exhaust manifold along with a HKS wastegate. A Trust intercooler sits up front to cool the intake charge temperature while an HKS blow off valve prevents compressor surge back into the turbine. The Pann Speed CRV keeps the fuel system in check and a HKS EVC 1 is able to elevate the boost to sense altering levels. A HKS turbo timer and gauges round up the electronic modifications.
But the engine is not the only part of this car that deserves a second look. In fact it's the first thing that you'll see that seems to demand instant attention. The exterior of this Seven is modified in a seemingly unique way.
Admit
it – looking at this picture has given you a trouser tent. And who can blame
you? Modified Mazda RX-7s are about the sexiest cars on the planet – and few are
sexier than our Veilside monster turbo. With a full CII Veilside body kit and a
carbon rear spoiler, Treated to the full Japanese street racer look, complete
with height adjustable suspension. But what really makes this seven look mean is
the blacker than black paint.
At the back, a huge
Veilside carbon wing perches so menacingly that it seems to lure you towards
this piece of automotive sex. If it sounds like were getting carried away,
forgive us, but this is one of the most amazing cars we've ever had in stock....
Despite
the stunning appearance, its under the bonnet what really counts.
We have seen quite a few turbocharged cars before, but reckon this one beats the lot: ‘The acceleration is superb and it handles corners like a dream!

From the HKS specific compressor and turbine wheels and blade designs to the thier unique housings, the HKS Signature T04 turbocharger unit is race proven and engineered with the highest standards in performance, function & reliability. T04 incorporates HKS specific compressor & turbine wheel combinations that enhance intake efficiency and power output at high rpm and boost levels.

The HKS pistons are made from high grade steel and can cope with very high power outputs. The quality of these items is second to none.
The ECU is an uprated item from Pann Speed, allowing better fueling, to cope with better breathing. A plug-in engine management system that provides full fuel management tuning and ignition timing control capability by utilizing the factory fuel and ignition baseline curves as reference points to configure a new fuel & ignition maps
HKS Turbo Timers extend turbocharger life by allowing engines to idle down after the ignition key has been turned “off” and removed which allows engine oil to circulate through the hot turbocharger and dissipate heat from the bearings and impeller shaft. Oil coking that leaves partical deposits on turbocharger shaft assemblies is one of the number one causes of turbo failure in automobile engines. HKS Turbo Timers are designed to extend your turbocharger’s life by allowing engines to idle down after the ignition key has been turned to the “off” position and removed*. This allows engine oil to circulate through hot turbocharger bearing housings, dissipating heat from the bearings and impeller shaft thereby preventing coking.
HKS Turbo Timer with monitoring and metering functions such as RPM,
time to speed/distance, peak hold & warning features and a stopwatch for lap
times. Unique to the Type-1 Black is that its metering and displays are in MPH
and SAE standard readings. Ex. 0 to 60 MPH, 60 foot, 1/8 mile & 1/8 mile times
with trap speeds in MPH.
The Pillar meters precisely monitor boost, oil, water, fuel pressure and exhaust temperature.
HKS Racing Wastegate Dual Port Actuator S/S race proven external units constructed with die-cast mounting base structures and valve seats, fully sealed shafts, high temperature resistant diaphragms & utilize 50mm valves to support up to 1000 horsepower turbo applications. The Racing Wastegate S/S units utilize a squared shaped stainless steel inlet flange.
Intercooler by TRUST improves both the efficiency and power of the large single turbocharged application by rapidly reducing inherent heat levels of the compressed intake air charge before entering the engine. By utilizing a special tube and fin design, the intercooler acts as a large heat exchanger that dissipates the heat generated by the compression of the intake charge without creating reductions in boost pressure or response. As the pressurized air is channelled through the thin tubes of the intercooler core, that are filled with internal radiating fins, cool ambient air rushes through the front of the core, where the external radiating fins of the tubes draw out the heat. This heat transfer decreases the likelihood of detonation by reducing the inlet temperatures and maximizes power output by increasing the density of the air inlet charge, therefore increasing overall horsepower levels as the intake charge is now cooler and denser. Boost response and airflow is also often improved from the intercooler upgrades’ larger flow capacity and cooling efficiency.
HKS Super Mega Flow air intake system, produce smoother and more even airflow with increased velocity for optimal air/fuel atomization, which result in increased throttle response, horsepower, torque and fuel efficiency. Performance air cleaner construction is bigger funnel = better air flow. Both air and water flow follow similar dynamics. In the case of an air inlet design, air flow tends to move toward surface areas which in turn creates more air flow on the surface (edge) rather than in the center (middle). HKS has created a supreme funnel design using this concept. This design creates maximum air flow with the least amount of restriction. The end result is a smooth and even air flow with increased engine response, horsepower and fuel economy
HKS Super Sequential Blowoff Valves (SSQV) are dual stage pull type relief valves that by design do not leak under high boost conditions or under idle vacuum and is actuated by pressure alterations to ensure a quick primary and secondary valve response. By dumping the excess pressure to air, the turbocharger wheels can spool up more quickly allowing for better response and less turbo lag .
The Blitz NUR Spec exhaust, a full stainless steel exhaust manufactured with impeccable quality, this allows for the perfect compromise between Power, Torque, and a deep- throaty Sound.
DRIVE TRAIN
5 speed manual, Mazda speed racing clutch. Mozart cut flywheel, RE Amemiya differential / 4.30 ring and pinion.
BRAKES AND SUSPENSION
Up-graded braking system. ST BUZO HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION. Fully adjustable performance suspension (Can adjust ride height & damping properties - £2,000 worth of kit in Japan). Coilover kits provide the ultimate in suspension tuning with 30-way dampening, threaded dual-chambered shock assemblies and perches for height adjustment, upper Pillowball mounts for improved steering response, and tempered springs.
